I am the new me. Rotating Header Image

Some days are harder than others.

And yesterday was a hard one.

I think I must have had a bad night sleep or something, because I certainly woke up on the wrong side of the bed!

With N on the other side of the country, I seem to be having a hard time adjusting to sleeping alone, but such is the life of a ‘navy wife’.

I’m actually really pleased that I had such a successful, on plan day, yesterday, even with the desire to gorge on chocolate and stab people with my pencil.  I think my evening 9.4K run helped with eventual stress reduction.

Anyway, on to what I ate.

As we know, breakfast is the usual.  My day started with my cup of tea & oatmeal.  I had a coffee in there too, but it turns out that I only drank a few sips of it because my mug was practically full when I went to make this mornings coffee. Somewhere along the way yesterday, I totally forgot to have my morning snack, but I guess that’s Okay, we’re only supposed to eat when we are actually hungry, right?

You’re probably starting to figure out that lunch is often the same as last night’s dinner.  This time I bought the last pieces of chicken thigh that I had cooked on Sunday, and added some steamed broccoli. I was too lazy to go through the trouble of roasting veggies, and boy did I miss the flavour! Note to self: roasting the veggies is worth the time it takes. Also, I decided to eat my lunch on a plate, instead of out of the tupperware I brought it in. It made it that much more enjoyable.

The afternoon had 2 snack times. First there was a babybel light with my afternoon coke zero.

My second afternoon snack was a delicious cup of strawberries & a second babybel light.  I swear, strawberries have become my favourite snack & I will probably cry when they get too expensive over the winter!

After work, I popped back to my house to visit puppies & pick up some fall running gear, then it was up to the lake to get my butt out for about 10K on the route of this weekend’s half marathon.  I had to get out there as fast as I could, it gets dark pretty early these days & the last 4K of run was on a trail through the forest.  I usually don’t take my phone with me on runs, since that is my technology free time, but for some reason I decided to carry it with me, just in case.  This is the point where the route turns off of the road and heads on to the trail. I took this picture in an effort to convince my friend Rebecca to come run with me on Sunday.  It didn’t work.

When I got home from my run, I was chilled, but not hungry.  I set about lighting the fire to warm the house up, and then tried to decide what to have for supper.   I wasn’t much in the mood to cook, so I was going to just have toast and jam with a cup of tea, but then I remembered we have a cupboard full of canned soup. So, 2 pieces of toast, more than a little margarine, and some tomato soup with a little garlic, parsley & italian cheese blend.  It was delicious, and warmed me up nicely after my run!

Like I said, after the day I had yesterday, I’m surprised I ended up doing so well. I guess it just goes to show that you can do anything when you put your mind to it, and I have put my mind to getting back to my previous weight.

Awesome work kirsty. Like you told me before, if of don’t have control of things going on(ie moods) you can at least have control of your food intake and fitness. Proud of you!

Hey – love these posts….would you ever consider posting the points value per meal/snack?

I think I did that the first time around, when I did the ‘a week of what I eat’ series. But I can do it again. It should be easy enough, considering I am on top of my tracking right now!
