I am the new me. Rotating Header Image

I’ve lost my interest in food.

I don’t know how else to explain it.

I seem to have lost interest in food.

I mean, I’m still eating. In fact, I’m eating more than I need to feel satisfied.  But the thing I am struggling with is the fact that I don’t care what it is I am eating.

I’m a creature of habit, and thrive on routine, so I have no problem during the day, Monday to Friday.  I have no trouble packing my ‘oatmeal concoction’ , which you are probably familiar with if you have ever read one of my “What I eat” posts, If not, you can check it out here.  I’m really good about packing fruit for snacks, and bringing a healthy lunch.

The problem begins when I get home.

At home, I have no interest in food.

I have all the right food there. There are vegetable sin the fridge, and lean proteins in the freezer, potatoes & multi-grain pasta in the cupboard.

All the right stuff is there, but I just don’t care.

At the end of the street, 200m away, there is a convenience store. At that store they have bacon, bread, butter, ice cream, chocolate bars. Across from that, there is a bakery that makes the most amazing tempting treats, and not to far from that there is a little cafe that makes sandwiches and other lunch/dinner items that I have yet to explore.

The cafe isn’t much of a temptation, I usually just go there on Saturdays for lunch.  The bakery & the convenience store really kill me.

I have healthy food at home, yet somehow it is easier to walk to the end of the street to get junk food than it is to cook dinner, even though I cook for my lunches.

I think I am in a rut. I know my personal life is in a rut, and I’m working to improve that. Now I think that it has also started to impact my eating habits.  I think, just like in my personal life, I need to spice up my eating habits a little.

I know that, on average, I use about 16pts+ on an average day, before I get home from work.

What I need are ideas & recipes to make my evening meals more interesting.

So, this is my call out to you, WeightWatchers member or not, what are your favourite low point/low-calorie, delicious dinner recipes that are easy to make, for a single person?

I don’t mind having left overs than I can freeze, or take for lunch the next day.

So, help a girl out here! I’m going to start another series of “what I eat” posts, starting with what I eat today, so give me your recipes and maybe they will end up on the blog!

Turkey chili, chicken enchiladas, and turkey burgers are my favorite go-to ‘batch cooking’ to keep in the freezer. I then jazz those things up for dinner with salsa, or avocado, or plain yogurt.

I also always keep a bag of frozen shrimp on hand which make for a quick salad topper, or easy tacos, or stirfry. If you steam and cool them they make great shrimp salad with a little light mayo and green onions. Same with eggs…easy to just scramble or fry one up to go with salad or toast or grilled ham…or keep a couple of boiled eggs in the fridge to eat straight up or turn into egg salad. I’ve been making ‘eggvocado’ and I’m pretty much addicted. (If I have leftover yolks I just feed them to my dog).

Good luck! Everyone gets in a rut but they always pass. Sometimes just a walk through a new store or farmer’s market can get the juices flowing. Maybe take yourself to the Moss Street Market this weekend, or plan a trip over to Root Cellar to see what they’ve got going on.
