I am the new me. Rotating Header Image

A Week in Review!

So, I’ve been single for a little over a week now, and I’ve been back at work from Christmas vacation for a week.

I have been having a lot of fun being back in my real life and feeling like myself again, so here is how the week went for me.

The first thing is, I was SO excited to be getting dressed for work again. I love my clothes and being back at my house where I had access to ALL my clothes, hats, shoes, coats, has been great.

Over my Christmas holidays, I bought myself a few new dresses, so back to work week one was all about showing them off.  They are all my favourite for different reasons.  This one, I love because it is modern, yet classic. I think it is going to last me a while. I’ve become a huge fan of this length of dress. I love the way it hits just at the knee.

I kinda feel a little inspired by Kate Middleton and her young, modern, classic style lately.  What can I say, I was a kid in the UK in the 80’s. I want to be a princess one day, but for now I can just pretend!

On Tuesday, I went with this awesome black and white striped dress.

I remember a day when I couldn’t wear horizontal stripes, that day is history.

I actually paid fill price for this one. It was just one of those dresses that you try on and canNOT immagine leaving the store with out it. I feel so skinny in this one.

Such a fun dress to wear.

For the office, I threw a colourful cardigan in my bag to keep my arms warm in our frigid office space!

On Wednesday, my new pants came out to play.

I’ve been looking for a pair of black pants in this cut for a while, so again, I paid full price for them. But when it is something you have been searching for, and something you will get a lot of use out of, full price isn’t really that bad.

It is all about the cost per wear, right?

What I love about this outfit is the fact that the pants are an expensive pair of Le Chateau pants, but the cardigan was $8 at the Superstore.

Wednesday also had some awesome outerwear.

The coat was a great deal ($19.99 at Le Chateau on clearance a couple years ago). The scarf was from Santa this year, and the fedora is part of my new hat obsession.  Seriously. LOVING HATS!

So much fun!

Wednesday night was the return to RunClub, so just to show that I’m not ALWAYS dressed in super cute, fabulous clothes, I snapped a picture of myself post run, keeping warm in a hoodie my friend Jenny gave me  before she moved all the way to Australia.

It’s like a big Jennypants hug every time I put it on!

Thursday night is work WeightWatchers night, and I knew my boss was coming to ‘certify’ me on a new presentation we are giving on a weekly basis.

With that in mind, I wanted to look professional, and feel confident.

I had been saving this dress for just this occasion.

You can’t really see the details in the picture, but it has a cowl neck and a buckle detail at the waist.

It is definitely a dress that makes me feel good to wear it!

Friday’s dress was the subject of my “Lady in Red” post.  I gave you a big explanation about exactly why this dress is so awesome in that post, but here is something I didn’t tell you, because it hadn’t happened yet when I posted!

When I popped to the mall at lunch to gram some stickers at the Dollar Store, I was ‘caught looking confident’ by the marketing manager of the Bay Centre, and had my picture taken for an upcoming ad.   Apparently everyone is wearing blah colours these days and they were looking for someone wearing something bright and cheery in the middle of winter.

I guess the purple scarf, teal purse and red dress qualify as colourful! EEK!

Friday night, I headed out for dinner with a friend.

I figured since red was SO good to me at work on Friday that I would carry the colour choice over to the evening.

Simple jeans, boots and a red sweater. Yup, red was still making me feel confident.

I have to tell you how much fun I had going out to dinner with a friend. Living back closer to civilization makes it so much easier to be social. I seriously plan to do it a lot more.   I actually have plans every night this week, so it looks like I am booking in to next week now! 😉

Saturday morning brings with it another early morning, but I don’t mind it so much, since it is my weekly morning WeightWatchers meeting.

It feels SO much different to get out of bed for something you LOVE to do, than it does to get out of bed for something you HAVE to do.

It was a really busy meeting, 10 new registrations and a collection of returning members. I LOVE the energy of a WeightWatchers meeting room in January. I just wish I had worn more sensible shoes. 4 inch heels aren’t made for running around on a cement floor!

Sunday morning brought with it my first long run of this marathon training session.

It also brought with it a couple inches of snow on the ground at my place, which meant bundling up and actually wearing my snowboots instead of runners when I left the house.

I’m nice and layered up with 3 layers on top, and my fleece lined tights on the bottom!

Luckily once I got to town there was way less snow, and it actually turned out to be a nice 10K run with the new group.

After the run, it was coffee with the group, and then home for a short nap and to get ready for the afternoon WeightWatchers meeting.  The Sunday meeting is geared towards “young people”, but they still let me come to work!

I tend to have a little more fun with my outfits on Sunday. Put things together a little differently than I would in my everyday life.

This is another example of an awesome Superstore find: a $7 dress.

As for the rest of the week, when I wasn’t running or at work… there was puppies and my kitty, and hockey on my TV and snow on my car and yummy food!
